St. Andrew’s Episcopal School: Modernizing Campus Purchases with Kanpla
At St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Texas, buying a snack on game day or an item from the Spirit Shop used to mean cash or a voucher card purchased at the head office. It worked, but it was clumsy: parents couldn’t easily access the process, administration was heavy, and credit cards weren’t part of the experience.

With Kanpla, St. Andrew’s introduced a modern, parent-powered wallet that works across both campuses and all venues. Parents top up balances for one or more children, set spend limits, and enable auto-refill. Students pay by tapping their ID card. And for athletics, guests and staff can pay by card at the terminal, everything tied together in one shared system with centralized reporting that also gives parents insights into what exactly their child is purchasing.

About St. Andrew’s Episcopal School
St. Andrew’s Episcopal School is a Texas-based school with two locations: a Lower & Middle School campus and an Upper School campus. Across both, the school supports campus life with spirit shops and athletics, places where smooth purchasing, strong controls, and clear visibility matter for families and staff alike.
Challenge: Cash, vouchers, and unnecessary friction
Before Kanpla, St. Andrew’s relied on cash and voucher cards that parents had to buy at the main office. That setup created a set of familiar headaches:
Administrative burden managing voucher cards and manual processes in the Main Office
Limited accessibility for parents, especially inconvenient for busy families
No simple credit card option, forcing parents to remember cash for school purchases and athletics
Cumbersome multi-child management, making top-ups and oversight into what your child is purchasing impossible
St. Andrew’s wanted one solution that could serve students day-to-day, and still handle the realities of athletic events where customers can also be guests or staff.
Solution: A flexible payment setup that works everywhere
Kanpla gave St. Andrew’s a single platform that adapts to different venues while staying consistent for users and administrators.
A parent-friendly wallet with controls built in
Parents can easily deposit funds for their children, whether they have one student or several—then manage everything from the app:
Add money for multiple kids in one place
Save a payment card for fast top-ups
Turn on automatic refill to avoid running out of balance
Set spend limits so parents know exactly how much a student can use
The solution is available both as an App in App Store & Google Play as well as through the web giving maximum accessibility for the parents.

One platform that works for everyday purchases and game day crowds
Students pay in seconds by tapping the same ID card they already use on campus, drawing from the balance their parents have deposited. Parents stay in control with full purchase visibility - they can see exactly what their child bought, which helps them understand spending and support healthier choices over time.
For athletics and other high-traffic moments, St. Andrew’s can also serve parents, guests, and staff with credit card payments directly on the terminal, while still supporting student balance payments where relevant. And because every food venue across both campuses runs through one shared Kanpla setup, the school benefits from central management and consolidated reporting, simplifying oversight and reducing administration.
They can also through the app communicate with parents through Push-notifications & Pop-ups to further improve parent engagement moving forward.

Results
With Kanpla rolled out across multiple venues and both campuses, St. Andrew’s achieved:
92% app adoption, showing strong parent engagement and day-to-day usage
+2 hours saved per week on administration, reducing manual work and simplifying reporting
A consistent payment experience across spirit shops and athletics - without sacrificing flexibility
Looking ahead
St. Andrew’s now has a scalable foundation for campus commerce: a payment experience parents trust, students can use instantly, and administrators can run centrally. As needs grow, the school can extend the same framework to additional purchase points, add additional engagement features and use the data to continually improve the on-campus experience.
